Caspian Pony - Wild Horse
The Caspian pony, thought to be extinct, was rediscovered by Zoologists in 1965 and found roaming along the shores of the Caspian Sea and in the foothills of the Elburtz Mountains in northern Iran. The Caspian Pony is believed to date back to the ancient miniature horse of Mesopotamia. Bones have been excavated in Iran that point to the existence in the area of a very similar small horse during that period. The Caspian Pony stands at between 10-12h.h. and has many of the outward conformation characteristics of a horse.
