Learning to Understand and Ride Horses - A Guide For Anyone Who Ever Had a Horse Step on Her Foot
Any horse lover knows that the ability to understand equine body language is crucial. Some horse lovers come by this ability naturally; we call them “survivors.” Others learn to ride and show horses through a painful process called “trial and error” and “losing.” This column should help both groups to hone their horse body language-reading skills. Do you ride Warmbloods? Thoroughbreds? Arabians? Quarter Horses? Andalusians? Do you jump, drive, practice dressage, do three day eventing, cutting and roping? Doesn’t matter. Learn when your horse’s body language is saying; “Get out of my, way, I’m comin’ through!’”
