Russian Arabian Horses - Their Fall and Rise
Russian Arabian horses were bred by Czars and noblemen in the 17th century, and comprised a large portion of the stables of Catherine the Great by 1772. Many prized animals were brought home from the Middle East in 1889. The Tersk Stud originated after the Russian Revolution and assimilated many quality Arabians of different strains into their successful breeding program. Over the years, many champions have emerged from Tersk, proving that the Russian breeding program has been successful in producing animals that are not only athletic, but also pleasing to the eye. Breeders around the world will continue to clamor for the unique blend of qualities found in the Russian Arabian.
